Sherry Wood, has had medical issues for some time now. She had surgery to remove colon cancer in 2017 and has struggled with her health since then.
On Tuesday, November 5th, Sherry went to the ER here in Port St Joe for severe pain and weakness in her back and legs (among other symptoms). After initial testing, Sherry was immediately taken by ambulance to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, where she has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer that was already pretty advanced upon discovery. The cancer is present in several different organs including her liver, lungs, and pelvis.
Over the last week, the doctors have been working on getting Sherry's pain under control so that she's well enough to begin treatment. She will be undergoing radiation daily and chemotherapy every 10 days. Yesterday was her first day of both chemotherapy and radiation (11/15).
Our family's greatest request during this time is that you all please keep Sherry, her husband Jeff, and her daughter Mary-Kate in your prayers during this difficult time. We are hopeful because the doctors have a course of action for Sherry's treatment, but we all know that this will be a very difficult and trying time for Sherry and the family.
As I'm sure most of you know, medical bills are extremely expensive. Before Sherry was even transferred to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, her out-of-pocket expenses had already reached over $7000 & we know that she still has a very long road ahead of her. If you are at all able to help with the financial burden of this situation, I know that the Wood family would be exceedingly grateful for your support.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and support Sherry. Your generous donation will help fund her medical expenses
